The total container turnover of all Finnish ports in the first half of 2023, taking into account transit, amounted to about 724 thousand TEU, 4% less than in the same period of 2022.
At the same time, the export container traffic increased by 3.9% and amounted to 356.6 thousand TEU. Imports decreased by 9.5 to 322.6 thousand TEU. Transit decreased by 17.8%, to 44.8 thousand TEU.
According to the Statistics Office of Finland, the leader among Finnish container ports – HaminaKotka, according to the results of 6 months of 2023, processed more than 306 thousand. TEU (excluding transit), which is 1.1% more than a year earlier.
9.3% fewer containers passed through Helsinki berths during the reporting period than a year earlier – their volume reached 214.5 thousand TEU. Rauma increased the volume of container transshipment by 8.2%, having processed more than 100 thousand TEU.
The turnover of containers through Hanko in the first half of 2023 decreased by 21.4 to 29.5 thousand TEU. The port of Oulu processed more than 13.2 thousand. TEU is 7.6% less than in January–June 2022.
It should be noted that in June of this year, the total turnover of containers of all ports of Finland, excluding transit, amounted to 117.9 thousand. TEU is 5.4% more than in June last year and 1% more than in the previous month.
