By 2030, Russia plans to modernize 55 border checkpoints to significantly boost capacity along key logistics routes. The majority of these projects will be implemented on eastern and southern borders, including the North-South International Transport Corridor and routes with China.
On the border with China, capacity is set to increase sevenfold compared to 2021. Completion of the reconstruction of three automobile checkpoints — Pogranichny, Kraskino, and Kani-Kurgan, located in Primorsky Krai and the Amur region — is expected by 2025. By 2027, ten checkpoints on the Kazakhstan border and six crossings with Mongolia will also be upgraded.
Comprehensive works will cover 22 border checkpoints, including building renovations, expanded traffic lanes, and advanced technology to streamline inspections, aiming to limit truck inspection times to 10 minutes.
These improvements are aimed at enhancing the region’s logistics potential and creating more efficient trade routes for all market participants.
